STEPHEN YAU 游榮光
Yau, being hailed as a genius of light, has held 31 solo exhibitions and more than 200 group shows. He won many accredited awards. His paintings are in the collections of international museums and societies in the likes of Hong Kong Museum of Art, Kuala Lumpur College of Art and Design, Tourism Toronto, Philippe Charriol Foundation of Hong Kong, Galerie D’Art Sepia in Paris, and many more around the world.
Yau was born in Hong Kong. He has started watercolour since 1977, being hailed as a genius of light and established himself as one of Canada’s and Asia’s ﬁnest watercolorist. Inspired by Mt. Tremblant in Quebec of Canada, Yau created Dreamland, his first acrylic series in 2003. The dancing houses simply represent loving and lovable people. Some pieces illustrated the skyline of downtown Toronto were selected by Tourism Toronto of Canada to propagate locally and internationally. Land, his latest series about nature, shows the great creation of almighty God. The semi-abstract way of touch receives great response from art lovers and critics.
Yau has held 31 solo and over 200 group exhibitions in various countries including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and Canada, and has won many accredited awards. He created a giant watercolour painting of Hong Kong Park for permanent collection in 91. He was appointed as the watercolour consultant by Winsor & Newton (UK) for Hong Kong, Macau and China in 93. His paintings are in the collections of Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Heritage Museum, Urban Council, Philippe Charriol Foundation of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Jockey Club, Hong Kong Land, Kuala Lumpur of Art & Design, HaKaren Art Gallery of Singapore, Galerie D‘Art Sepia of Paris, Tourism Toronto, Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office of Canada, Diploma Collection of Canada.
He was the president of the Hong Kong Modern Art Society of Watercolors (91 - 93); is currently the member of the Hong Kong Visual Art Society, Hong Kong Artists’ Guild and Canadian Society of Painters in Water Color, also the consultant of DWA of Toronto, Art to Fly and To house of Hong Kong.
Yau immigrated to Canada in 1994, keeps on developing his art on the international front as well as teaching in his private studio to all art lovers.
游榮光生於香港。自七七年起專注水彩創作, 作品譽滿亞洲及北美水彩藝壇。零三年創作塑膠彩〈夢之鄉〉系列作品，靈感源自加拿大魁省Mount Tremblant，其中描繪多倫多市一系列創作獲該市旅遊局選作推廣和宣傳之用。近年創作以大自然為題的〈大地〉系列, 以半抽象手法表現宇宙大地的美及歌頌造物主的奇妙創造, 廣獲好評。
游曾舉辦31次個展，以及參與國際及地區藝術展覽200餘次，分別於香港、台灣、馬來西亞、新加坡和加拿大等地，並獲多項藝術獎。九一年應香港市政局邀請為〈香港公園〉繪畫巨幅水彩全圖作展覽及收藏。九三年應邀為英國溫莎.牛頓作中港澳總代理水彩顧問。其作品廣為中外機構及人仕所收藏, 包括香港藝術館、香港文化博物館、市政局、夏利豪藝術基金、香港賽馬會、香港置地、吉隆坡美術設計學院、新加坡 HaKaren Art Gallery、巴黎 Galerie D'Art Sepia、多倫多旅遊局、註加拿大香港經濟貿易辦事處和加拿大 Diploma Collection 等。
游於九四年移居加拿大多倫多, 除專注於繪畫創作及積極參與主流藝術活動外, 並設立私人教室, 培育新一代藝術家。
