LIU JIU TONG 劉玖通
Liu Jiutong was born in 1977 in Shaanxi. After graduating from Art Institute of Xian in 2000, Liu moved to Beijing and excelled his art study and creativities. In 2004, he resided in Shanghai where international cultural exchanges were happening and enable his art language to evolve rapidly. Liu became a full time professional artist.
Liu Jiutong is one of the Chinese abstract artists who borrows Eastern spirit in their creation. As a cutting-edge abstract artist, Liu Jiutong integrates both Western painting media and technique and Eastern artistic concept and spirit into his works. Also deeply influenced by the Shanghai style culture, his artworks were presented with tension and lively rhythm of life.
Growing up in the North West highlands, Liu Jiu-Tong went through all the vicissitudes of life and developed a strong personality. The rumbling yellow sands, standing on top of the land, standing firm and deep roots in life that reflect reality. With the accumulation of deep culture and homeland nurture, Liu Jiu-Tong came up with his own aesthetics concepts and language. His works are grand and staid in brushwork and fine, smooth and elegant in color.
Liu Jiutong held his Solo Exhibition at the National Art Museum of China, Xian Tang Dynasty West Market Museum and Taiwan. His works can be found (in auctions) on Sotheby’s and Christies auctions as well as private collections.
